Rising star Theo Tjandra has found a supportive brand home with The Macallan, appointed Bartender for The Macallan.

Theo Tjandra could be characterised as the definition of focused, creative and full of drive. It’s that energy that has captured the imagination and attention of The Macallan amongst the Edrington suite of brands through Hancocks here in New Zealand.

As bartender for The Macallan, we’ll see Theo will have the opportunity to showcase and share his bartending skills, creativity and his own story so far to support a range of events, guest shifts, pop-ups and unique cocktails throughout NZ and APAC over the coming months.

If you’ve had the chance to sit down for a drink of Theo’s, you’ll know his ability to capture significant life moments - both past, present and future. His passion to share those drinks, his dreams for hospitality and the journey so far is what brings he and The Macallan together — as well as his love of the elegant, iconic whisky. Currently you can find Theo at The Churchill, overlooking Auckland City and slinging from one of the largest gin menus in the country.

”The Macallan is so well-known and respected internationally, and they are still willing to lend a helping hand to someone and to assist in building their future. So nothing is impossible as long as you work hard, be kind and treat others with respect,” says Theo.

There’s a shared sense of values and aspiration as he embarks on the journey too.

“The Macallan is about quality, creating something that can reach perfection - and goes on to bring people together as one. I also want to share the skills I’ve gained in hospitality so far while learning new strengths from others.”
